There's a bug in the keyboard driver...(dear liza)

  Some bugs are harder to find then others.  To successfully find and repair a bug in the code requires it to be re-producible, the easier to reproduce the faster it can be troubleshooted and fixed. Some bugs however are really hard to find, yet alone re-produce.  Take for example the mysterious keyboard driver 'bug'.  You may have noticed it yourself. Suddenly pushing keys doesn't seem to do anything or strangely typing a key opens your menu instead of typing that 'F'..has your machine got a virus? ..become possessed by daemons? or every feel you are sure you pressed CTRL-C only to not be able to now PASTE it into your document? There is a BUG in the Windows keyboard driver, it has been there at least since Windows 95..perhaps even longer. No it is not 'sticky keys', but it has a sort of similar effect. About the Book - Geek Wisdom

It was a typical day in January, 2018. I recently started a project creating learning videos on topics like "Internet Programming 101"  and "Component Based Architecture 101"  and shortly after re watching them, it dawned on me just how 'Geeky' this wisdom was...and then I thought, hmm.. "Geek Wisdom". I wonder if I should start a 'Geek Wisdom' blog to share my videos on? So I googled and fund that the GeekWisdom.org site was in fact available, so  I ran out and purchased it and some space through 1&1  Internet...then I googled 'Geek Wisdom' and found this book (which I subsequently purchased the e-book shortly thereafter. So I thought, hey ! Why not write a few posts or do a few videos about some of the cool quotes that are in this book, sort of a 'geek bible'. But then I found that The 20-Something Chemist  had already done such an amazing job describing the book.. Well let him tell you in his own words:

Chess, Leadership and the Imagination

On Saturday Dec 3rd, 2022, I was asked to be a keynote speaker at a local chess tournament for ages 14 and under , and I was very honored and excited for this opportunity. They then further honored me with this trophy at the end and I am again humbled. Below is a written version of my speech " Chess, Leadership and the Imagination" The first thing I want to do today, is test if everyone's hands and arms are working. The Programmer's Dilemma

Client: This program isn't working the way I need it - I need a program that will do 'X' for me   Programmer: Okay, that's a tall order it will take some time to do. Client : Oh, I didn't realize, how long do you think it will take?   Programmer: Umm, depends, but I'm guessing about 3 weeks. Client:   No that simply won't work -   my reports are due next week, I need it by Monday. I'll just put another 3 programmers on it with you, that will make things 3  times faster, so you should have no problem getting it done by Monday! Programmer: Scratches his head - muttering  "umm,  that's not going to work" - Sound Familiar? Their seems to be a mistaken belief (held by a fair number of people), that any project or process can be made faster simply by adding more resources to it.   Blake Miner recently wrote an interesting blog entry called " The Infinite Version of You" . It is an interesting though experiment based on a concept known as "Theory of Mind" . In a nutshell, the people that others interact with in their minds have a version of "YOU", not the real you but the "YOU" they believe they "know".  Similarly, the people you interact with are not really them but simply a 'copy' of them you have made in your own mind, based on your experiences. This has some personal relevance to me, specifically as a young child, when I was between the ages of 9-11 my dad was diagnosed with a type of Schizophrenia. My dad believed that 'GOD' was taking to him and had given him special abilities, for example, the ability to move objects with his mind. What I came to realize though this experience (and through others following) was that the 'Dad' I knew was only a part of the picture. A bunch of pieces

 The Magic of the Blockchain - Demystified Playing around with Cryptocurrency - again - . Was inspired a few months ago by 'Dogecoin'.  Purchased about 300 coin at $0.10/coin.  Watching it grow to close to $1.00..wondering how high i will get..a very interesting coin. Said to be a 'joke' but a lot of Dogecoin millionaires out there already! GeekWisdom - Tales of a Geek -The Game Started working on a text adventure around Sept 2020.  It is a combination 'escape room' meets 'interactive novel', but I have been putting it off releasing it.  Started moving it to my server (free demo version). Users will need to sign up to Patreon account to login, but will not need to donate anything at this time to play (Donations still welcome though) Pool BBQ with Family Our first full summer with our new pool, cannot stay inside coding entirely on a nice day like today !

If each day of the week were a person, who would it be.... #WritingChallenge

 A popular writing challenge / prompt for new writers goes something like "Describe Each Day of the Week - as if it were a Person". I am taking a slightly different approach in this challenge.   Monday - For most people I think the beginning of the work week, leaves us feeling sad that the weekend is over and we have to go back to work. So I think the "person" who would match this most would be the women in the song ' Manic Monday' .  I too have these Mondays, but for the most part, I am excited to start my Monday and for me, it is closer to the character of Biblo starting out, leaving the Shire to set out on what adventure   Tuesday- After getting Monday 'over daywith'. Tuesday is the "real" start of the week, time to get down to business, and who puts up with no bull, rolls up their sleeves and gets down to business. Well for me it can be no other then Hans Solo.     At the time of writing this entry actress Marina Sirtis (probably best known for her roll as Deanna Troi on Star Trek TNG) has left Twitter. One of the things that made Twitter an amazing tool, were people like Marina - Famous people who would actually reach out and talk directly to fans, unlike some others, who just seem to use it for blatant marketing  purposes - but that is a different rant altogether. She is one of many actors in the Science Fiction genre who was very active on twitter Regardless of your feelings about Elon Musk, or Twitter, or Facebook, or any of the large social media companies.  This entry is to remind everyone, you do not have to be 'stuck' on one particular platform, when their is an entire Fediverse to choose from!
